Restricted funds
Zakat is never mixed with general funds
Zakat is a restricted fund. It is held in its own account and spent only on eligible recipients, such as the poor and those in debt, through programs like Shabolombi, Education Aid and medical support. It is never used for salaries, offices or fundraising. Gifts made to a specific program are restricted to that program in the same way.
How we keep the books
Double-entry, always balanced
Every transaction is recorded twice, as a debit and a credit, so the books must balance before anything is saved.
Corrections, not deletions
Posted entries are never edited or deleted. Mistakes are fixed with a visible reversing entry.
Traceable to the payment
Each donation entry links to its confirmed payment and receipt, including gateway fees.
Tagged by program
Spending is tagged to the program it served, which is how the breakdown above is produced.
