Who we are

Neighbours helping neighbours, with open books.

Our name comes from the Bangla word লাগবে, “needed”. We started as a handful of volunteers answering a flood. Today we are a non-profit, non-political organisation, with our registration with RJSC as a society in progress. We give families what they truly need to stand on their own, and show donors exactly where every taka goes.

Why we exist

Dignity, not dependency

Charity that ends when the money runs out is not enough. We look for the one thing that lets a family earn, learn or heal on its own, and we deliver it in person.

Our mission

To help families across Bangladesh become self-reliant through productive assets, education, healthcare and a greener environment, delivered by local volunteers.

Our vision

A Bangladesh where no family is one illness, one lost job or one missed school fee away from losing everything.

Our promise

Zakat stays Zakat, program gifts stay with their program, and every donation and expense is recorded in a double-entry ledger that we publish.

What guides us

Four values we will not trade

Amanah (trust)

A donation is a trust placed in our hands. We treat it that way, down to the last taka.

Dignity

We never photograph or name a family without their consent, and we ask what they need instead of assuming.

Local first

Field teams live in the communities they serve and verify every case face to face.

Lasting change

We prefer a rickshaw to a food parcel and a scholarship to a one-off gift, so help keeps working after we leave.

Our journey

From one flood response to five programs

A short history of how a volunteer group became a foundation.

  1. June 2024

    A volunteer network is born

Lagbe Foundation began as a simple tool to organise volunteers during the flash floods in north-eastern Bangladesh.

  2. January 2025

Lagbe Foundation takes shape, Shabolombi launches

We began distributing productive assets: sewing machines, rickshaws and starter stock for small shops.

  3. March 2026

    Work on Tuhur begins

We started building Tuhur, a free and ad-free Islamic companion app with prayer times, verified mosques and Qur’an resources.

  4. Today

    Five programs, one transparent ledger

Education aid, Shabolombi, Shasthyo Seba, Green Bangladesh and Tuhur now run side by side, with all finances posted to a public double-entry ledger.

Accountability

How we keep ourselves honest

Double-entry books

Every payment and every expense is posted to a balanced ledger, not a spreadsheet.

Restricted funds

Zakat and program-specific gifts are tracked separately and spent only for their purpose.

Verified cases

Each aid application is checked by a field visit before any help is delivered.

Data protection

Personal documents are stored privately and used only to process your request.

There is a place for you in this work.

Give, volunteer or simply tell a friend. Every hand makes the load lighter.
