1. About these terms
These terms apply to this website, the Lagbe Foundation account and sign-in used by our apps such as Tuhur, and our payment pages. Lagbe Foundation is a non-profit, non-political organisation in Bangladesh; its registration with RJSC as a society is in progress. How we handle personal information is in our privacy policy, which is part of these terms.
By using our services you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them. The Tuhur app and website also have their own terms for what happens inside Tuhur.
While this site is in review, the stories and figures marked as examples are samples, not reports of real work.
2. Your account
- One Lagbe Foundation account works across our apps. You make it with a mobile number or an email address, each checked with a code.
- Give your own, true details, and keep your password and codes to yourself. We will never ask for a code or password by phone or message; if someone does, do not give it.
- You are responsible for what is done with your account. If you think someone else has used it, change your password and sign out your other devices in the Tuhur app, and tell us.
- You can delete your account at any time, as our privacy policy explains.
3. Using our services fairly
Please do not:
- Give false information, use someone else’s identity, or apply for support on someone’s behalf without their knowledge.
- Claim a payment you did not make, or submit a transaction ID that is not yours.
- Try to get into accounts, data or systems that are not yours, or disrupt the services, for example with automated requests or spam.
- Use our name, logo or materials to raise money or to suggest that we support something we do not.
4. Donations and how they are used
- Every donation is voluntary. You choose its fund: the general fund (used where the need is greatest, which can include running the organisation), sadaqah, zakat, or one program.
- Zakat is kept in its own restricted fund, apart from all other money, and is spent only on goods handed over to eligible people, who receive ownership of them: through approved Shabolombi or education applications, never at camps or events, and never on salaries, offices, payment fees or other running costs.
- A gift to a program is spent only on that program.
- We hand over goods and services, never cash to individuals.
- Our books are double-entry accounts kept in our own system, and our transparency page shows income by fund and spending by program for each year.
- Donations are in Bangladeshi taka, from 10 to 1,000,000 taka per payment.
- Lagbe Foundation does not claim any tax benefit for donations, and you should not rely on one.
5. Paying, receipts and failed payments
- You pay with a Bangla QR, using bKash, Nagad, Rocket or any bank app. The payment company that runs your app and the bank or payment company behind our QR carry out the transfer under their own terms. We never ask for your PIN.
- With a QR made for your payment, the payment company confirms it to us, usually within moments. With our standard QR, you enter the transaction ID and the number or account you paid from, and our finance staff check it against our account statement before marking it paid; a payment we cannot find is marked failed, and you can write to us with your proof.
- A payment not made in time expires (normally after 24 hours) and a QR code made for one payment stops working after a few minutes; you can get a fresh one. Nothing is taken from you for an expired or cancelled payment.
- If you gave an email, we email a receipt with the payment reference once it is confirmed. Signed in, you can see your gifts and receipts on My donations.
- The payment company may charge a fee on a payment. Where it does, the fee is recorded in our books and on the statements we give.
6. Refunds
A donation is a gift and is generally not refunded. We will put right a mistake, such as paying twice, paying the wrong amount, or paying for the wrong fund, if you write to [email protected] with the payment reference as soon as you can.
- Our finance staff check the payment and, if it is refunded, send the money back to the number or account it came from. A refund can be for all or part of the payment.
- A fee the payment company took is not given back.
- Money that has already been spent on support, or paid out to a mosque, cannot be refunded.
- Each refund is recorded in our books and shows on the payment’s status.
7. Gifts through Tuhur
When you give in the Tuhur app, you pay Lagbe Foundation. A gift to Tuhur itself is kept in our books for Tuhur’s work. A gift to a mosque is held for that mosque and passed on to it, as below. Tuhur collects no zakat or fitra: its “Pay zakat” button opens our zakat page, and that zakat goes to our zakat fund.
- Each mosque’s money is kept apart in its own restricted account in our books. Lagbe Foundation never spends it and takes no fee for itself from it; only that mosque’s gifts, refunds, payment fees and payouts can move it.
- We pay it out to the mosque’s committee on the mosque’s own period (daily, weekly, monthly or yearly), by bank transfer, mobile wallet or cash handed over against a signed receipt, to a payout account our staff have checked with the committee. Every payout is recorded and reported to the committee with the days it covers.
- If the payment company charges a fee, we either take it from the gift, and the mosque’s statement shows the gift, the fee and what was paid out, or pay it ourselves. We set which applies for all mosques, and it is fixed for each payment when the payment is made.
- A gift is for the purpose you chose from the mosque’s own list. Once paid out, the money is the committee’s, and the committee is responsible for using it for that mosque and its purpose.
- We may stop new gifts to a mosque, for example while its details are checked. Money already held for it is still paid out.
8. Applying, volunteering, events and careers
- Applying for support is free. Give true information: we check applications, may visit, and decide by each program’s rules. An application is not a promise of support.
- Volunteers act under our coordinators’ guidance, unpaid. A certificate is issued only for service or attendance we have recorded.
- An event sign-up holds a seat while there is space; otherwise you join the waitlist and we tell you if a seat opens. You can cancel with the link in your messages.
- Job applications are considered as the job’s page says, and we tell you the outcome.
9. Our content
The text, photos, logo and design of this website belong to Lagbe Foundation or to those who allowed us to use them. You may share our pages and quote them with a link, but not use them in a way that suggests we endorse you, or to raise money in our name.
10. Our responsibility
We work carefully to keep our services running and our records right, but we provide them as they are and cannot promise they will always be available or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, Lagbe Foundation is not liable for indirect losses from using our services, for delays or failures caused by payment companies, networks or events outside our control, or for how a mosque committee uses money once it has been paid out to it. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have under the law of Bangladesh.
11. Suspending an account
We may suspend an account or refuse a payment, application or sign-up that breaks these terms, is fraudulent, or puts others at risk. A suspended account cannot sign in to Lagbe Foundation or our apps. If you think we made a mistake, write to us.
12. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Bangladesh, and the courts of Bangladesh decide any dispute about them. Please write to us first: most problems can be settled by talking.
13. Changes to these terms
We will update these terms when our services or the law change. The date at the top shows when they were last revised. A change does not affect a payment already made.
